Environmental and eco-responsible charter
The consumption of resources is important at l’appartement de Margot and at la maison de Valentine as in all tourist rentals.
Therefore, I would like to share with all my guests these values of respect toward the environment and sensible consumption.
Please take the time to read my approach to the responsible economy to better understand the actions that have been put in place and those that will be put in place in the longer term.
To reduce the impact of the rental activity of l’appartement de Margot and and la maison de Valentine, I have put in place simple, common sense and long-term actions on the following points :
Energy, let's save it!
- L’appartement de Margot was completely renovated in 2017. The thermal and sound insulations were particularly reinforced thanks to the installation of high-performance double glazing.
- The front door of la maison de Valentine was changed in June 2022 for better sound and heat insulation. The windows are double glazed.
- L’appartement de Margot is heated by a reversible heat pump which saves a lot of electricity.
- A remote heating ON/OFF control system has been set up for each installation. An information is sent to the guest if the heat in the flat exceeds normal usage.
- Our lamps are low energy LED technology.
Plastic is no longer fantastic
- There are no plastic cups, no plastic cutlery in the flat but instead you can find porcelain glasses and dishes.
In the bathroom
- In the bathroom, welcome products have been replaced by an organic family shower & shampoo dispenser
- A notice is placed in the bathroom to only use necessary towels. Towels are washed on site to avoid any energy-consuming transport.
- To reduce the water flow, toilets are dual flush.
More beautiful the bin
- In the kitchen, we separate the green and the grey bins.
- Every guest is asked to put used glass in a container in town.
Green cleaning
- The flat is cleaned with the most natural cleaners possible and especially with elbow grease.
- Washing machine and dishwasher capsules are made of 100% easily biodegradable ingredients.
Quickly my bike
- In each flat you can store your bikes.
From kitchen to cupboards
- The food is organic: tea and herbal tea, olive oil and vinegar, pasta and tomato sauce.
Because we must always improve our approach to rational consumption, I am still working on an action plan:
- I am trying to replace the single-use Nespresso capsules with a more local and/or biodegradable solution.
- I am looking for a substitute to plastic water bottles like micro-filtered and purified water on site, such as water fountains, reusable water bottles or similar.
- I am looking for a more efficient shower with a low-flow shower head.
- I am looking into whether I can replace the current electricity supplier with a ‘truly green’ electricity supplier.
